Welcome to our fourth Youtalk reading club summary. Our last book club meeting took place on January 30th at the Ramón J. Sender library. It was the best Youtalk reading club reunion we have had so far. Everyone really enjoyed the book selection for January which was The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Our club members said it was well written and surprisingly they told me they liked the era in which this literary classic takes place. The author wrote this classic novel in 1925 and the story takes place in 1922. This era is known as the Roaring Twenties and also as the Jazz Age. The story captures a particular and unique time in American history. All of our readers participated. They discussed the characters in the book, the lifestyle, the culture and the author´s point of view. I was very pleased to hear all of their thoughts and opinions. But most of all, I was happy to hear them express themselves in English.. It was wonderful. I am very proud of the group. You all did a fantastic job! I hope you can come to our next meeting which will be on February 27th. The book for this month is Captain Alastriste by Arturo Pérez Reverte and again it will be held at our usual place, the Ramón J. Sender library. I hope you can all make it. See you soon!
