And Then There Were None by Agatha Christie

03 Ene

And Then There Were NoneWelcome back to our third edition of YouTalk Reading summary. Because of the holidays, our meeting for December took place on the 19th. It was held at the Ramon J. Sender library. The book selection for this month was a success. Most of our members read Agatha Christie´s And then there were none in English. They enjoyed reading this novel because it was entertaining, easy to follow and a good mystery. I admit this is my first Agatha Christie novel I have read so far and I enjoyed it also. The story is about 10 strangers who are invited and hired by a mysterious wealthy man to spend the night at his mansion located in a remote island. Each of these strangers had something in common. They were responsible directly or indirectly for the deaths of others in the past. Since they were never charged of their ¨crimes¨, the supposed host says in a recording that they will all die one by one. Nobody knows for sure if the host really exists or if it´s one of the ten strangers who begins to kill the guests. It is not until the very end when you find out who the murderer is. The novel is very well written and fast paced. I want to thank each and everyone of you for coming and participating in our discussion. I noticed that there are alot of mystery novel fans and I always like to listen to your thoughts and opinions. I hope to see you for our next YouTalk reading reunion. The book will be The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald. Again it will take place at the Ramon J. Sender library on the 30th of January at 7:30 in the evening. This is a great chance to practice reading, talking and listening in English. See you soon and Happy New Year!!

Sincerely,

Jesse Pereira
